The Central Elections Commission (CEC) Chairman, Hanna Nasir, and Deputy CEO, Ashraf Shuaibi, met today with the ICRC Head of Mission in Palestine, Ms. Els Debuf, and ICRC’s Legal Advisor, Carol Najarian to brief both guests on the CEC’s ongoing efforts to hold the upcoming 2021 Palestinian elections.

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) held a meeting today at the CEC headquarters in Al-Bireh with the representatives of 15 registered Palestinian political factions to brief them on nomination procedures for the upcoming legislative elections, set to take place on May 22nd. The CEC explained the nomination conditions for Legislative Council membership along with the required enclosures, and answered inquiries of the participating representatives concerning this important stage of the electoral process.

CEC Chairman, Hanna Nasir, addressed a letter today to Attorney General, Akram Al-Khatib, with regards to the compliant submitted by the CEC to the Public Prosecution last month on the electoral crimes that took place during voter registration, i.e. transfer of polling locations of citizens without their knowledge
