Tuesday, March 9, 2021

CEC Chairman, Hanna Nasir, addressed a letter today to Attorney General, Akram Al-Khatib, with regards to the compliant submitted by the CEC to the Public Prosecution last month on the electoral crimes that took place during voter registration, i.e. transfer of polling locations of citizens without their knowledge.

Nasir expressed his confidence in the work of Public Prosecution and hoped to inform the CEC on the progress made in the investigation process to identify the perpetrators and take legal action against them in accordance with the law.

It should be indicated that on the evening of February 16th, the CEC discovered attempts to transfer registration locations of voters without their knowledge which is considered an electoral crime. Accordingly, the CEC submitted an immediate complaint to the Attorney General with all information necessary to launch investigation and hold the perpetrators accountable.
