The CEC Adopts Exceptional Procedures for Receiving Nomination Applications in Light of Current Closures

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced that due to the current war and in light of the closure of checkpoints and gates that the Palestinian governorates are witnessing and its impact on movement making it difficult to reach the CEC offices, it was decided to adopt exceptional procedures. This will ensure the continuity of the nomination process for the 2026 Local Elections and to remain on schedule.

The CEC Issues a Clarification concerning Women Representation in Electoral Lists Nominated for Municipal Councils

The CEC highlighted that Decree-Law No. (23) of 2025, concerning Local Authority Council Elections and its amendments dictates a minimum level of women’s representation in electoral lists submitted for municipal council elections. This requirement constitutes a fundamental condition for the submission and acceptance of any electoral list, as stipulated in Article (15/3/B) and Article (16/3) of the law.
