The Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced that due to the current war and in light of the closure of checkpoints and gates that the Palestinian governorates are witnessing and its impact on movement making it difficult to reach the CEC offices, it was decided to adopt exceptional procedures. This will ensure the continuity of the nomination process for the 2026 Local Elections and to remain on schedule.

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced, by the end of the third day of the nomination stage of the 2026 Local Elections, the number of nomination applications received until the end of working day on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, as part of its daily follow up of the progress of the ongoing electoral process.

The CEC highlighted that Decree-Law No. (23) of 2025, concerning Local Authority Council Elections and its amendments dictates a minimum level of women’s representation in electoral lists submitted for municipal council elections. This requirement constitutes a fundamental condition for the submission and acceptance of any electoral list, as stipulated in Article (15/3/B) and Article (16/3) of the law.

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced today, Monday, the opening of centers for receiving nomination applications for the 2026 Local Elections, which commence today and continue until March 1^st, in 12 locations spread across all cities of the West Bank, in addition to the city of Deir al-Balah.
