The Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced that due to the current war and in light of the closure of checkpoints and gates that the Palestinian governorates are witnessing and its impact on movement making it difficult to reach the CEC offices, it was decided to adopt exceptional procedures. This will ensure the continuity of the nomination process for the 2026 Local Elections and to remain on schedule.
The CEC invited citizens interested in submitting their nomination applications, whether as individuals for the membership of village councils or as part of electoral lists for the membership of municipal councils, who are unable to reach the CEC offices and centers to submit their applications to send it using the WhatsApp numbers below, each within the electoral district they are part of, by Sunday, March 1 at 2:00 PM the latest. The CEC clarified dedicating three WhatsApp numbers per electoral district, to guarantee easy and quick receipt of applications.
Concerning the nomination application attachments, the CEC pointed out that it will be completed at a later time, after receiving the main application via WhatsApp, out of keenness not to obstruct citizens’ right to nomination and to enable them to complete the required procedures within the legal period.
It is worth mentioning that the CEC affiliated offices for receiving nomination applications are open to those who can reach them until 2:00 PM Sunday, March 1, 2026.
