The Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced, by the end of the third day of the nomination stage of the 2026 Local Elections, the number of nomination applications received until the end of working day on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, as part of its daily follow up of the progress of the ongoing electoral process.
The CEC clarified that the total number of received nomination applications reached 87 electoral lists in municipalities, with 1014 men and women candidates, in addition to 486 men and women candidates in the village councils.
The CEC emphasized that submitting applications does not necessarily mean its acceptance, indicating that all files will be submitted to a thorough review. Applicants will be notified after finalizing the legal and procedural review. Furthermore, the CEC invited potential candidates to rush submitting their applications and not to wait until the last moment, out of its keenness to avoid crowdedness and to ensure completing all required procedures prior to the end of the legal period.
