Basel Alqasem

The CEC published today the legal timeline for the complementary local elections in accordance with the Cabinet’s decision issued last Tuesday assigning the elections day on 29 July 2017.

Complementary local elections will be conducted in accordance with local council elections law no. 10 of 2005 and its amendments. According to the published timeline, nomination phase will be conducted over ten days during the period 10-19 June 2017. The preliminary register of candidate lists will be published on 20 June 2017. The final candidate lists will be published on 15 July 2017 coinciding with the beginning of elections campaigning for 13 days. Polling day is set by the Cabinet on 29 July 2017. The preliminary elections results will be announced on 30 July 2017.

It should be indicated that registration of voters, exhibition and challenge phase will not be conducted for the scheduled complementary elections since complementary elections is part of the 2017 implemented local elections process during which the voters list was exhibited and challenged in all localities of the West Bank during the period 4-8 March 2017.
