The CEC publishes the 2017 final local elections results

Basel Alqasem

The CEC published today the final results of the 2017 local council elections following the end of the legal period of objections before the Elections Cases Court.

The Court received ten objections to the preliminary elections results, six of them were dismissed and four accepted.

The Court rulings on the accepted objections resulted in re-running of elections in the locality of Anata in Jerusalem, redistribution of a council seat for a female winner in Hebron, recounting of ballots which were annulled by polling staff in one station in Silat Al-Dahir locality in Jenin which resulted in changing the final elections results in the locality.

The final official elections results were submitted to the Ministry of Local Government along with winning certificates for the lists and candidates in the 145 localities in which local elections were held. The CEC has previously submitted to the said Ministry winning certificates for candidates and lists in the 181 localities which won by acclamation.

It should be indicated that complementary elections is scheduled to take place on 29 July 2017 in the 66 localities in which elections didn’t take place on the 13th of last May.
