The CEC holds a regular meeting in Ramallah

The CEC held yesterday a regular meeting to assess past preparations for the postponed local elections and discuss current and future projects.


During the meeting held in the Commission's headquarters in Ramallah, the CEO presented the executive administration’s report on CEC’s preparations for local elections which was scheduled to take place on 22 October before it was postponed, and the most important achievements in terms of updating the voter registry.


The CEO also briefed attendees on CEC’s projects being currently implemented, i.e. a project to develop the capacity of the CEC funded by the UNDP, focusing on building communication strategies with civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and a project to buttress the CEC’s readiness for future elections, funded by the European Commission (EC).


Participants also discussed the second phase of the Italian funded project entitled ‘enhancing Palestinian election participation’ which the CEC is currently implementing with eight CSOs, as well as a project to develop media strategy for the Commission funded by the US. Agency for International Development (USAID).


The Commission has taken a series of decisions on the topics at hand. In addition it should be indicated that the CEC holds constant regular meetings according to its rules of procedure to maintain readiness for any future elections.
