A Delegation from the CEC visited the Communication office of the Republic of Tunisia last Thursday . This came in the framework of cooperation between the CEC and the Independent Election Commission in Tunisia (ISIE) to review the latest preparations for remote voting which commenced October 20th and will end October 22nd to allow Tunisians abroad from participating in elections.

The delegation met with the acting ambassador, Al Habib Ben Farah, in addition to the Head of the Electoral Office in Ramallah Dr. Waleed Al Nahal, where both briefed the CEC on the elections preparations in Tunisia.

Dr. Nahal expressed his happiness in such day which represents a new era for Tunisia which now lives under the role of democracy and multi party system. Dr. Nahal described it as ‘’a historic experience happening for the first time’’.

Tunisia is witnessing the election for its National Constituent Council on Sunday, October 23rd 2011.

It is worth noting that the CEC had previously shared experience with the electoral bodies in Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, specifically in the technical matters related to the electoral systems and the general principles of elections, relying on the extensive electoral experience and good reputation it enjoys in the Arab world.
