The CEC welcomes the Cabinet Decision to postpone Local Elections
The CEC welcomes the decision of the Cabinet issued today to postpone Local Elections in all districts. The Cabinet’s decision comes in line with the recommendations of the CEC to temporarily postpone the whole electoral process instead of holding it in the West Bank only to avoid further division between the West Bank and Gaza Strip and protect the public interest of the Palestinian People.
The CEC, however, maintains hope for the electoral process to be resumed soon in all districts in one day in a way that serves the aspirations and interests of the Palestinian People.
The CEC will, later on, publish a statement on electoral lists and candidates according to law after coordination and consultations with relevant parties.
