Voting begins in the 2017 complementary local elections
The CEC announces the commencement of voting for the 2017 complementary local elections from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm in 25 polling centers across the West Bank.
Forty three thousand registered voters are eligible to cast their votes today in 14 localities in the West Bank where 51 nominated lists (411 candidates) will be competing for a total of 142 designated council seats.
The CEC issued a statement encouraging a wider participation of voters in the electoral process and calling upon stakeholders of political parties and electoral lists to adhere to the elections law and regulations to ensure smoothness of the process.
Counting of votes will commence immediately after the closure of polling centers in each polling station, where the votes obtained by each list will be announced. The total number of votes obtained by each list at the locality level will be published at the premises of the locality council. The preliminary elections results are scheduled to be published on Sunday, 30 July 2017.
