On July 10th, 2012 the Cabinet issued a decision No. (01/08/14/C/PA) to hold local elections in all West Bank districts on October 20th, 2012. 272 out of a total of 353 localities participated in said elections. However, the Cabinet issued another decision to hold complementary elections on 22 December 2012 where 81 localities took part.
The Cabinet decided a second complementary elections to take place on Saturday, 1 June 2013 in 36 localities in the West Bank, included the localities in which elections were postponed due to court decisions, the localities where no electoral lists qualified for nomination during the first and complementary local elections and the localities where the majority of its council’s members had resigned.
