Concerning the Call for Presidential and Legislative Elections
The President of the State of Palestine
The Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization
The President of the Palestinian National Authority
After reviewing the Amended Basic law of 2003 and its amendments;
And after reviewing Law by Decree number (1) of 2007 concerning the General Elections;
And based upon the powers bestowed in us
And in realization of the public interest
We hereby decree the following:
- Article 1
The Palestinian people in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip, are called to general, free and direct presidential and parliamentary elections on Sunday (24 January 2010).
- Article 2
The Chairman and the members of the Central Elections Commission and all relevant bodies, each within its jurisdiction, shall implement the provisions of this Decree which shall enter into force from the date of its issuance, and shall be published in the Official Gazette and announced in the local daily newspapers.
