The CEC meets with the representatives of Political Parties in the West Bank

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) held a meeting today; Tuesday, in its headquarters in Al-Bireh, with the representatives of political parties and factions. Through which, they were briefed about the details of the first phase of the 2021 Local Elections.

CEO Mr. Hisham Kuhail emphasized, during the meeting, the importance of the role of political parties and factions during the course of the electoral process. Especially that of  mobilizing their members and citizens in general to register in the voter registry, considering it is an essential prerequisite for  nomination and voting in the elections. Furthermore, he briefed the representatives about the CEC’s preparations after the issuance of the Cabinet’s decision to hold the electoral process in 387 localities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. He also emphasized  that it’s necessary to make all possible efforts to insure holding the Local Elections in all governorates nationwide.

The representatives were given the necessary data and information to start the registration, exhibition and challenge stages; which will launch on Sunday, October the 3rd and will last for 5 days. As well as, other detailed information about the stages of the electoral process, and the timetables for each one of them.

It should be indicated that the CEC proceeded to implement the 2021 Local Elections, and that polling day during its first phase  is set on Saturday, December 11th in accordance with the Cabinets decision. It will include village and municipal councils classified as “C” in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
