The CEC holds a training session for Journalists in Gaza

The CEC concluded today a two-day training session for local journalists in Gaza on elections media coverage. 

CEC Regional Office Director, Jameel Al-Khalidi, opened the training session by stressing the importance of the role of media during elections and the objective of the training in enhancing relations with the media and introducing journalists to international experiences regarding media coverage of elections.

Twenty five participants, representing various types of media outlets, participated in the training program funded by the European Union (EU). The training focused on the methods of information gathering, classification and examination, reporting and writing of news scopes pertaining to elections.

The training conducted by journalist, Mohammad Daraghmeh, presented also practical examples of media coverage of electoral events from around the world. The training also tackled issues related to the neutrality of media coverage during elections campaigning and how to report objectively away from personal, religious and partisan affiliations.

It should be indicated that a second training session for working journalists in the West Bank is scheduled to take place in September 2017.
