The 2017 Local council election voting closes

CEC Chairman, Dr. Hanna Nasir, announced that voting for the 2017 local council elections ended at 7:00 p.m. today as scheduled, during a press conference held at CEC’s media center in Al-Bireh. 

Dr. Nasir stated that by the end of the E-day, the total number of electors has reached 393572 out of 787,386 total eligible voters, with voting percentage of 49.98%،. Counting has commenced in polling stations immediately after the closure of polling centers. The counting minutes will be gathered at the premises of each locality council and the total votes obtained by each list will be published at the premises of the locality council.

Dr. Nasir said that the voting process ran smoothly without major violations that could influence polling results. 

The CEC has, nevertheless, decided to extend voting hours until 9:00 p.m. in one polling center in Nablus to enable Samaritan voters cast their votes by the end of today which is a religious holiday for this group.

It should be indicated that the preliminary election results will be announced tomorrow evening during a press conference which will be held at CEC’s media center.
