Presidential Decree No. (19) of 2005
Concerning starting the Nomination Stage for Legislative Elections

 

Chairman of the PLO’s Executive Committee

President of the Palestinian National Authority,

After reviewing the Amended Basic Law of 2003, and its further amendments, and the Elections Law No. (9) of 2005, and the Presidential Decree No. (11) of 2005, concerning the postponement of General Elections

And based on the powers vested in us and for the sake of public interest,

 

We hereby issue the following:

 

Article (1)

Elections for the membership of the Legislative Council shall be commenced in Jerusalem and all the country’s governorates on Wednesday, January 25, 2006.

 

Article (2)

Nominations for the Legislative Council membership will be open on Thursday, November 24, 2005 and will continue for the period stipulated in the Law.

 

Article (3)

Presidential Decree (11) of 2005 is nullified, as well as any other provision contradicting with the provisions of this Decree.

 

Article (4)

All competent authorities, each within its own jurisdiction, shall implement the provisions of this Decree, which shall enter into force upon its issuance, and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
