Presidential Decree No. (22) of 2005
Concerning starting the Nomination Stage for Legislative Elections
Chairman of the PLO’s Executive Committee
President of the Palestinian National Authority,
After reviewing the Amended Basic Law of 2003, and its further amendments,
Based on the provisions of Law No. (9) of 2005, concerning General Elections
And based on the powers vested in us and for the sake of public interest,
We hereby issue the following:
Article (1)
Elections for the membership of the Legislative Council shall be commenced in Jerusalem and all the country’s governorates as scheduled on Wednesday, January 25, 2006.
Article (2)
Nominations for the Legislative Council membership will be open on Saturday, December 3, 2005, and shall remain open for twelve (12) days. Political parties and factions as well as the independent shall prepare their official electoral lists and name their candidates for the Legislative Elections, and submit them to the competent authorities within this period.
Article (3)
Electoral campaigning starts on Tuesday, January 3, 2006, and shall be concluded the evening of Monday, January 23, 2006.
Article (4)
All that may contradict with the provisions of this Decree shall be nullified.
Article (5)
All competent authorities, each within its own jurisdiction, shall implement the provisions of this Decree, which shall enter into force upon its issuance, and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
