Decree No. () of 2016
Concerning the Local Councils with a percentage of Christian Citizens
President of the State of Palestine
Chairman of the PLO’s Executive Committee,
After reviewing the Amended Basic Law of 2003 and its further amendments, the provisions of the Local Councils’ Elections Law No. (10) of 2005, and its further amendments, especially Article (71) repeated, the System for Determining the Number of Council Members for Local Authorities of 2016, issued on May 25, 2016,
and the Cabinet Resolution issued on July 12, 2016 concerning Local councils with a percentage of Christian citizens
Based on the powers vested in us, and for the sake of public interest,
We hereby issue the following:
Article (1)
The number of council members for the below mentioned local authorities during the local councils’ elections scheduled for October 8, 2016, shall be as follows:

Article (2)
The mayor in each of the local authorities mentioned above shall be Christian.
Article (3)
All that contradicts with the provisions of this decree shall be nullified.
Article (4)
All competent authorities, each within its own jurisdiction, shall implement the provisions of this decree, which shall enter into force upon its issuance, and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
