Cabinet Resolution No. (11/126/18/M.W/M.A) 2021

Determining the date for conducting the “Second Phase” of Local Councils’ Elections

 

Based on the powers vested in us by law, for the sake of public interest and based on the following:

Provisions of the Amended Basic Law of 2003, and its further amendments;

Local Authorities Law No. (1) of 1997, and its further amendments;

Local Council’s Elections Law No. (10) of 2005, and its further amendments;

Decree Law No. (1) of 2007 on General Elections and its further amendments;

Cabinet Resolution No. (3) of 2011, concerning Local Councils Elections System,

Cabinet Resolution No. (16/123/18/M.W./M.A.) of 2021;

The Cabinet, in its session held on September 27, 2021 in Hebron, hereby decided the following:

 

Article (1)

The date scheduled for carrying out elections for the councils of local authorities classified A&B shall be Saturday, March, 26, 2022 throughout the country’s governorates, in accordance with the annexed list.

Article (2)

  1. The date for conducting elections for local authorities classified C and village councils in the Northern Governorates shall be December 11, 2021.
  2. The date for conducting elections for local authorities classified C in the Southern Governorates shall be March 26, 2022 during the “second phase”.

Article (3)

  1. Authorizing the Central Elections Commission to commence all necessary technical arrangements and preparations to organize the local authorities’ elections in accordance with the provisions of this resolution and on the assigned date stipulated in the previous article.
  2. Authorizing the Minister of Local Government, on behalf of the Cabinet, to follow up the organization and conduction of the abovementioned Local Councils’ Elections in coordination with the Central Elections Commission.

Article (4)

All competent authorities, each within its own jurisdiction, shall implement the provisions of this resolution. The resolution shall enter into force upon its issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
