Dr. Hanna Nasir,

Chairman of the Central Elections Commission (CEC),

Greetings,

Topic: Adding new local authorities to the second phase of elections

The Ministry of Local Government sends you their best greetings. In reference to the issue above, and as the second phase of elections is scheduled for March 26, 2022, as per the Cabinet’s resolution, to include municipalities (classes A and B) and the Gazan municipalities. Given that the first phase of elections were carried out excluding (60) local authorities who did not submit their own lists or withdrew their submission in addition to the Municipality of Jaba’/Jenin that did not participate in the first phase of elections despite submitting their lists. Therefore, based on the powers vested in us as the Minister of Local Government, we have decided to add the above mentioned municipalities to the second phase in order to carry out their elections.

Note: A list of the local authorities who did not submit their lists is attached.

Best regards,

Eng. Majdi Al-Saleh

Minister of Local Government
