Procedures for the Accreditation of International Observers

The CEC welcomes and encourages the participation of international observers, and calls upon all international observation bodies, International missions, CSOs and NGOs dealing with issues of democracy, human rights, or other relevant fields to apply for observer accreditation.

Accreditation of observers starts on February 1st and will continue until July 29th.

Observers will be given accreditation cards that allow them to observe the entire electoral process, from voters’ registration through the announcement of the results.

In facilitation of the role of the international Observer bodies, applications can be submitted either online through the CEC’s electronic website, or in person at the CEC Headquarters by filling the provided forms below.

 

To Apply Online,

As part of the online application process, the organization or delegation will be asked to attach an official letter addressed to the CEC from their government or organization verifying the legitimacy of the information that will be provided.

After the application has been processed, the observer body’s contact person will receive an e-mail containing a link and a code, which will enable him/her to nominate observers and observers’ assistants/ interpreters from their organization.

Procedures for the Accreditation of Observers’ Assistants/Interpreters

  • International bodies must submit an application for the accreditation of observer assistant/Interpreter. Which will allow the latter to accompany the observer to registration and voting centers.
  • International bodies must submit an official final list with full names and ID card numbers of assistants in need of accreditation cards. In addition to providing a photocopy of their ID or passport, and two official personal photos.
  • The required material above, must be submitted either electronically or personally to the headquarters of the CEC, through the contact person of each international Observer’s body.

Procedures for the Accreditation of International Guest Observers

The CEC provides the option for International bodies who do not intend to write formal reports about the elections to submit an application to acquire the status of: Guest to the Elections Commission.

As part of the application, a guest observation international body must provide:

  • A formal letter from the relevant international body, government or representative office, verifying that the information provided in the application is correct. It must be signed by the head of the representative of the body and stamped with the organization's seal.
  • A passport or ID photocopy of the contact person of the Guest International Observation body.

Once the Guest International observation body is accredited. The body’s contact person will receive further information to electronically submit more details about its observers.
