The CEC Briefs the Chair and Members of the European Parliament on the 2021 Elections Preparations

CEC Chairman, Hanna Nasir, held a meeting today, via zoom, with the Chair and members of the European Parliament's standing Delegation for relations with Palestine to discuss preparations for the upcoming 2021 Palestinian Elections.

Nasir briefed the Delegation members and Chair, Manu Pineda, on the latest developments since the issuance of a presidential decree which called for and set the general elections dates. Nasir also discussed the progress of voter registration being the first stage of elections.

Nasir also referred to the official invitation the CEC addressed yesterday to the European Parliament to send observation missions to monitor all stages of the electoral process, meanwhile stressing the importance of the role of the European Union and Parliament, as a key partner to the CEC. The meeting also discussed possible Israeli obstacles that might stand in the way of holding elections in Jerusalem as the case in all cities of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
