The CEC conducts ToT workshops on election observation

The CEC commenced today the first training of Trainers (ToT) workshops in Nablus and Gaza aiming to build the capacities of potential election observation cadres from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in both the Wes Bank and Gaza Strip as part of an EC funded project.

Commissioner Dr. Yousif Awadallah opened the workshop in Gaza by stressing the importance of the training in building the capacities of potential election observation cadres. Dr. Awadallah explained that the training targets a total of 80 participants who were selected from 60 CSOs in the West Bank and Gaza. Deputy CEO, Ashraf Shuaibi opened the workshop in Nablus explaining that CEC will conduct four training workshops ( two in Ramallah and Nablus in the WB and two in Gaza) over a period of two weeks.

The training which will be implemented by CEC trainers will focus on issues related to election observation, the international standards of election observation and observers code of. In addition to training, participants will benefit from shared field experience by local observers who participated in monitoring elections in Palestine and abroad.

It should be indicated that this project comes as part of CEC’s regular activities that aims at raising electoral awareness and building the capacities of election stakeholders.
