Basel Alqasem

Voting in the Second complementary elections commenced at 7:00 am today where 19429 eligible voters are expected to cast their votes in 15 centers the CEC operates till 7:00 pm in 8 localities.

CEC Chairman announced earlier that the polling process is running smoothly where 34 lists and 244 candidates compete for 82 local council seats.

Voters turnout until 10:00 am has reached 10.5% where the highest percentage was scored in Dair Nitham (26.1%) and the lowest was in Al Khader (5.9%).

On this occasion, the CEC calls on voters to exercise their rights in choosing their local representatives through polling centers distributed near their places of residence. The voter should head to the center where he/she is registered and fill in ballots by marking the list of his/her choice with an X placed in the square next to the list name.

The CEC calls on all lists, candidates and political representatives to adhere to CEC procedures to ensure the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.

Upon the closure of polling centers, the counting process begins. Initial results will be published immediately after counting ends inside each station. The number of votes won by each list will be gathered at the headquarters of the local council in each locality.

It should be indicated that 14 localities won by acclamation as only one list was nominated, whereas no list was nominated in another 14 localities and thus elections were not held.
