The CEC Publishes the Preliminary list of candidates
Today, CEC approved the preliminary list of candidates for the second complementary elections scheduled on 1st June 2013.
CEC accepted the nomination of all 48 lists which applied during the nomination phase concluded last Thursday and announced that elections will take place in 8 localities where more than list was nominated. It is expected that lists will win by acclamation in 14 localities due to having one nominee list in each. Whereas, elections will not be held in 14 localities as no list is nominated.
According to local elections law No. 10 of 2005, the CEC will notify successful lists of nomination results and publish the list of candidates at CEC’s district offices and localities centers for three days as of today. During this period, list representatives may review and correct any information and citizens may object in writing to the nomination of any list or candidate they deem illegal.
It is worth mentioning that Cabinet had issued a decision on 12 March 2013 setting the date for the second complementary elections in 36 localities in the West Bank on Saturday, June 1st 2013, where the CEC opened nomination for council membership for ten days during the period from 16-25 April 2013.
