Thursday, April 24, 2025

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) and the United Nations Development Programme/Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP) signed an agreement to implement a series of activities under the project "Supporting the Inclusive Electoral Process in the State of Palestine" until the end of November this year, with the value of 155,000 USD.

This agreement is a continuation of the MoU previously signed by both parties to support the CEC's efforts in the areas of promoting civic participation and electoral integrity, as well as developing the capacities of its staff and both of its technical and technological capacities.

The new agreement aims to enhance the technical capacities of the CEC's staff, rehabilitate the electoral districts, develop digital and technological infrastructure of the CEC, in addition to supporting awareness activities in order to introduce the new amendments to local elections law. Moreover, the agreement includes implementing the second phase of electing student-activities committees at schools in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

It is worth mentioning that this agreement is a continuation of the long-standing cooperation between the CEC and UNDP in implementing similar projects that contribute to enhancing the practice of democracy in Palestine.
