Dr. Hanna Nasir, Chairman of the Central Elections Commission (CEC), received today Wednesday, a delegation from the European External Action Service (EEAS) of the MENA region, at the CEC headquarters in Albireh.
The delegation included Desk Officer for Palestine Ms. Ines Manrique, and Head of Political Section, Mr. Ramesh de Silva.
Dr. Nasir welcomed the European delegation stressing on the long- lasting partnership between the commission and the EU, which was highlighted over the years with the EU funding a series of electoral and political awareness projects.
Furthermore, the CEC Chairman briefed the visitors on the commission’s work during the past couple of years to hold the General Elections before they were postponed due to the obstacles by the occupation of holding the elections in Jerusalem. He also referred to completing the 2021 Local Elections in two phases, reiterating his call to the EU, to pressure the Israeli side to hold General Elections in all Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem.
