CEC Chairman, Dr. Hanna Nasir, received today Mr. Christian Clages, the Representative of Germany to the State of Palestine, at the CEC HQ in Al-Bireh.
During the meeting, attended by CEO Hisham Kuhail and Deputy CEO Ashraf Shuaibi, Dr. Nasir discussed the latest developments with regards to the upcoming general elections and the outcome of his meeting with President Mahmoud Abbas as well as the positive atmosphere surrounding elections which aspires hope, more than ever, for elections to be held soon.
Dr. Nasir also discussed possible Israeli obstacles to holding elections in Jerusalem, calling on Germany and the European Union to exert pressure on the Israeli side on this regard.
On his part, Mr. Clages appreciated the role and work of the CEC and stressed Germany's support for the electoral process and democracy in Palestine.
