CEC Chairman, Dr. Hanna Nasir, received today the European Parliament Mission of the Delegation for relations with Palestine, Chaired by Mr. Manu Pineda, at CEC’s Headquarters in Al-Bireh.
During the meeting, Dr. Nasir discussed the consultations led by the CEC end of last year with political factions with regards to general elections and the challenges standing in the way of holding elections especially in the occupied city of Jerusalem. Dr. Nasir stressed that casting votes at Israeli post offices in Jerusalem does not comply with international elections standards of free and fair elections, adding that the CEC aspires for elections to take place inside polling centers under the supervision of the CEC or at the UN offices in Jerusalem.
