The CEC participates in the Arab EMBs meeting on voter registration
The CEC participated in
the latest meeting for Arab Electoral Management Bodies held in Amman between
13-14 November 2017 to discuss voter registration.
Mr. Suhail Hammad, Director
of IT Department, represented the CEC in the meeting which focused on exploring
and presenting various experiences on voter registration in the Arab countries
from the legal and technical aspects.
The meeting aimed at
implementing the outputs of the regional workshop on voter registration in the
Arab countries, held by Arab EMBs in 2015, which included share of expertise
and software programs used in the registration of voters in member states as
well as capacity building for election staff with regional and international
experience.
In addition to Palestine, the meeting was attended by a
number of Arab countries such as Sudan, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania,
Somalia and Jordan in order to prepare an electoral map on the reality of
registration in the world.
It should be noted that the Arab EMBs is an independent, non-political Arab
organization that aims to consolidate regional cooperation among Arab electoral
administrations and in which Palestine is a founding member.
