The CEC conducts an educational campaign in all Palestinian districts

Basel Alqasem

Today, the CEC launched an educational campaign in all Palestinian Governorates to illustrate the aim of voters registry update process scheduled on 28/3-1/4/2007. During the campaign, the CEC will distribute educational materials illustrating the aim of the process and the target population.

Educational Brochures

The campaign will be conducted over a period of five days and will recruit 53 field officers in addition to a number of volunteers distributed to all districts. The campaign staff will distribute educational brochures on the governmental and civil organizations and schools covering all population centers. The CEC issued 4 educational brochures and printed 120 thousand copy of each to illustrate the target group, the updating requirements as well as encouraging Palestinian citizens born in 1989 or before to register themselves in the voters list.

Promotional Posters

The CEC prepared two promotional posters and printed 5,000 copies of each encouraging citizens to participate in the updating process as from Wednesday, 28/3 for the purpose of registering their names if they weren’t registered before or to check if their registration data are correct. The campaign also focuses on illustrating the fact that the updating process also includes the registration of Palestinians who were registered before and wish to change their registration center.

Billboards, Radio and TV spots

A number of billboards were placed in places noticeable for the public. At the same time, the CEC is broadcasting a number of TV and Radio spots in local Radio and TV channels and Palestine TV on daily basis to encourage unregistered citizens to register and check the registration details of registered voters.

The CEC will open voters registry update centers as from Wednesday, 28 March for five days. This process is an annual procedure to maintain an accurate and up-to-date registry.
