The CEC met with Political Parties and Civil Society Organizations in Gaza

A delegation from the CEC, headed by Chairman Dr. Hanna Nasir, met today with representatives of political parties and factions in the Gaza Strip (GS).

During the meeting, Dr. Nasir discussed CECs ongoing preparations to conduct elections in both the West Bank (WB) and Gaza in accordance with the same set of procedures and standards stipulated in the local elections law. According to elections timeline, the first stage of elections, i.e. registration, exhibition and challenge, will commence on Saturday, 23 July until Wednesday, 27 July in all localities of the WB and GS.

On their part, political parties expressed full support to CEC’s efforts to hold elections on the scheduled date of 8 October.

The delegation also met with representatives of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and informed them of the commencement of accreditation of local observers. CEC confirmed its commitment to holding free and transparent elections, fully monitored by local and international CSOs and observation missions and to facilitate the work of observers and journalists wishing to cover elections.
