The CEC signs a memorandum of understanding on the delimitation of local electoral districts

The CEC signed a memorandum of understanding on adopting the borders of local electoral districts. The Memorandum was signed by the CEC Chairman Dr. Hanna Nassir ,  Dr. Sameer Abdallah Minister of Planning, Engineer Ziad Al Bandak Minister of Local Government and Ms. Ola Awwad Acting President of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics.

In addition to the memorandum, a manual has been prepared, this manual includes names of local districts . Moreover , signatory parties considered the prepared maps as the legal requirement for any upcoming local elections.

Dr. Nassir considers this project as an important achievement. While Engineer Al Bandak thanked the CEC and assured that the Ministry of Local Government is ready for future projects and any required updating to the data. Moreover, Dr. Abdallah thanked the technical team, Ms. Awwad also assured that the PCBS is ready to help in any updates and modifications to the data.

The technical team is formed from a number of specialists from the CEC , Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Local Government and the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics in order to define the borders of the local districts in the West Bank and Gaza. The project was supported by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems.
