The CEC conducted a training course in Nablus as part of the project “ Capacity Building of Election Cadre”. The training was conducted over a period of four days, for 40 of the Ministry’s employees and discussed several topics about elections.
Dr. Rami Hamdallah ( CEC Seceratry General), Mr. Hisham Kuhail ( CEC Chief Electoral Officer), Ashraf Shuaibi (CEC Deputy CEO), Ms. Sahar Akoubeh (Head of Nablus Education Directorate) and Mr. Mohammad Awwad (Head of South Nablus Education Directorate) participated in the closing ceremony where Dr. Hamdallah congratulated the participants and assured that these projects enhance the readiness of the CEC to implement fair and transparent elections.
Mr. Kuhail appreciated the role of the Ministry of Education and emphasized on the importance of building the capacity of the Palestinian society regarding elections. In addition, Mr. Kuhail thanked the participants for their active participation and the trainers for their distinguished performance.
On the same hand, Ms. Akoubeh focused on the importance of such courses and appreciated the role of the training staff which included: Suhair Dweik, Khalil Hallaq, Hatem Sa’feem, Shatha Qawasmi and Sameer Dweikat .
This project is funded by the Norwegian government and in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the project is implemented throughout the West Bank including Jerusalem and aims at building the capacity of election cadre. The CEC is conducting 15 training courses for 300 of the Ministry’s employees. The training course discussed the basics of successful training, Palestinian elections laws, electoral systems in general and the electoral system in Palestine in particular, different phases of the electoral process, allocation of PLC seats and proclamation of results.
