Today, the CEC conducted a training workshop for 676 members of the staff who will be working in the voterszzz*z registry update centers which will be open from 28/3 until 1/4/2007.

40 training workshops were conducted in all Palestinian districts in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The training was conducted by professional trainers who in their turn, received training earlier by the CEC. The training focused on a number of issues related to the voterszzz*z registry update process such as the principles of the updating process, the updating cases, the registration of relatives, proxy registration and how to complete the registration form. During the training, the CEC stressed the importance of the updating process as a periodic procedure necessary for maintaining an accurate and up-to date record.

The training also focused on the population groups targeted by the process, I,e, the unregistered voters and Palestinians born in 1989 or before. It was also indicated that remote office registration is allowed for Palestinians who work or reside in places far from their original place of residence as well as the possibility of correcting any mistakes contained in the registration information of registered voters.
