Last thursday,the CEC Chairman, Dr. Hanna Nassir and Secretary General, Dr. Rami al- Hamdullah met with Mr. President, Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah to discuss the CEC financial situation and in particular the EU funds allocated for holding local elections which are expected to be transferred to the Presidentzzz*zs Office.
Dr. Hanna Nassir indicated that the CEC is still waiting for a decision by the Cabinet to hold the fifth and final round of local elections which will cover 62 localities.
After a decision from the cabinet is issued, the CEC would need a hundred days to complete local elections related procedures and preparations.
