The CEC receives Carter Center Report on observing the 2026 Local Elections

Dr. Rami Hamdallah, Chairman of the Central Elections Commission (CEC) received today, Thursday, the Carter Center Report concerning observing the Local Elections, conducted on April 25, 2026.

The handover took place during Dr. Hamdallah’s reception of the Country Representative of Carter Center, George Zeidan, at CEC’s HQ in Al-Bireh, in the presence of Ashraf al-Shuaibi, CEC’s CEO.

Dr. Hamdallah emphasized the importance of the role of international observation bodies; including Carter Center, in ensuring the integrity and transparency of the electoral process, in a manner that contributes to consolidating confidence in its outcomes, while expressing his appreciation of the Center’s efforts in monitoring and observing local elections.

Moreover, CEC’s Chairman indicated that the Legislative Elections scheduled for November 28, 2026, will commence in the presence of local and international observers. Furthermore, Dr. Hamdallah emphasized the CEC’s keenness to provide all facilitations necessary to enable those observer bodies to monitor and observe the various stages of the electoral process, in accordance with the highest international standards, in a manner that contributes to enhancing the transparency and integrity of the democratic process as well as confidence in it.
