The Chairman of the Central Elections Commission (CEC), Dr. Rami Hamdallah received today, Wednesday, the French Consul General, Nicolas Kassianides, at CEC HQ in Al-Bireh.
Dr. Hamdallah welcomed the French Consul General, expressing his appreciation of the European support to the CEC plans and programs during the implementation of the 2026 Local Elections, emphasizing the importance of enhancing the sustainable partnership between the CEC, the European Union, and its member states.
Moreover, CEC’s Chairman introduced the French Consul General to the CEC’s work in organizing local elections across the West Bank and in the City of Deir al-Balah in the Gaza Strip, despite the exceptional circumstances suffered in Palestine generally, and more particularly in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, Dr. Hamdallah pointed out the challenges and obstacles the process has faced, most importantly the practices of the Israeli occupation, in addition to obstructing entry of necessary electoral materials.
