The Central Elections Commission (CEC) updated the preliminary results of the local elections on its website after finalizing the verification of its data by the end of today, Sunday, with technical teams completing the compilation and entry of 100% of the counting protocols from all polling centers.
After receiving a group of inquiries focused on the process of fulfilling women and Islamic-Christian quota through replacement as stipulated by the Local Elections Law, which have caused confusion among some citizens, the CEC would like to clarify that the vast majority of cases of objections circulating around are related to misunderstanding of the replacement mechanism. At the same time, the revision process was concluded with updated results in a very limited number of local authorities. On another hand, the CEC would like to clarify to the public, once again, that fulfilling the threshold does not certainly guarantee acquiring a seat.
The CEC invites all electoral lists, candidates and interested citizens to visit the full detailed results published on its website, emphasizing its complete commitment to absolute accuracy and transparency in conveying the will of voters. In addition, the CEC confirms that the preliminary results published on its website are preliminary and appealable before the Elections Cases Court within one week of announcing it, in accordance with the Law.
