The Central Elections Commission stated, as part of its preparations to conduct local elections next Saturday, working on equipping a media center at its headquarters in Al-Bireh, to serve journalists, the Media and CEC guests on polling day.
The CEC indicated that the media center comprises of several corners equipped for filming, photography and live broadcast, in addition to advanced technical equipment, as well as specialized media teams from the CEC to provide all needs of journalists and media organizations.
The media center will host press conferences on polling day and the following day for announcing the results, in addition to providing a comprehensive working environment including regular updates of data, simultaneous interpretation, technical and logistical facilitations supporting media works around the clock.
The CEC invited media organizations and journalists to visit the center starting Saturday morning, April 25, until Sunday evening, April 26, to benefit from the provided services.
Moreover, the CEC emphasized that establishing the media center is part of its keenness to enhance transparency, facilitate access to information for the media and the public, which allows following the proceedings of the electoral process, and receive its updates as they come from the 183 local authorities, including Deir al-Balah.
The CEC emphasized that the local elections will be conducted in accordance with international standards for integrity and transparency, under broad observation, as the electoral process is expected to be monitored by over 2,000 local and international observers, in addition to hundreds of journalists and media personnel across the different governorates.
In conclusion, the CEC stressed the significant role of media organizations in conveying an accurate image of the electoral process, inviting all to benefit from the services of the media center, in contribution to providing a professional comprehensive coverage that enhances citizen trust and confidence.
