The Central Elections Commission (CEC) indicated a noticeable increase in citizens’ interaction on digital platforms, including its official website, with the approach of the date for conducting local elections, scheduled for April 25, 2026.
The CEC clarified that since the beginning of 2026; approximately 5.5 million visits were registered on its website, one million and a half of which were during March. This coincides with the commencement of the stages of the electoral process, including the registration and nomination stages, with varied reasons for visiting that ranged from inquiries about polling centers, acquiring electoral information, downloading the new law, or following up news and updates.
Concerning its social media platforms, the CEC shared that its content realized more than 20 million views, 5 million of which occurred last month only, which reflects a widening circle of access and interest with the approach of polling day, pointing out that awareness materials registered the highest follows and views.
Moreover, the CEC added that the AI ChatBot “Nazih”, developed in-house for its website, has contributed to the awareness process responding to public inquiries. Nazih responded to approximately 30 thousand questions since its launch in last January.
The CEC pointed out that it worked on expanding its digital presence and investing in social media platforms for direct access to the public, by establishing pages for each electoral district at the level of the governorates, in addition to enhancing partnerships in the different sectors to republish all awareness content.
The CEC emphasized that these indicators reflect an increased interest from the citizens to acquire electoral information through official sources, increased level of trust and confidence in the CEC. Such led to increased reliance from the public on digital platforms, as a key channel for acquiring information, especially with the acceleration through the different stages of the electoral process and the approach of polling day.
