Al-Bireh – The Central Elections Commission (CEC) confirmed today, Monday, continuing to receive accreditation applications from observation bodies, media institutions and journalists to cover the 2026 Local Elections; scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026, and emphasized, meanwhile, the significance and importance of the role of observation and media in enhancing the integrity of the electoral process.
The CEC indicated the accreditation of 50 observation bodies, so far, from Palestinian Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), which will disseminate 800 observers in the polling centers and stations to observe and monitor the electoral process.
Furthermore, the CEC has granted its accreditation to 52 local and international media organizations, in addition to 360 local and international journalist, who will cover the various stages of the elections for the public.
The CEC elaborated that the accreditation of observers and journalists is part of its commitment to the policy of openness and transparency, providing observer bodies and the media the opportunity to monitor the electoral process, in a manner that enhances its integrity, dedicates and consolidates citizens’ confidence in its results.
The CEC concluded with affirming its continued efforts to conduct the local elections as scheduled, indicating that on March 31, it will publish the final list of candidates, as it will appear on the polling papers, on its website, and at local authorities and the CEC district offices.
