Saturday, March 7, 2026

The Central Elections Commission (CEC), announced today, Saturday, the exhibition of the preliminary list of candidates and electoral lists nominated for the local elections at local authorities.

The CEC indicated that the list will be available for the public to review for three days through its website, at the CEC offices, municipal and village councils, enabling citizens to review and submit challenges against electoral lists or candidates in case of any legal cause allowing it.

In Deir al-Balah, the CEC indicated that the exhibition of electoral lists will be exclusively at its office, via its website, and the temporary premises of Deir al-Balah municipality, near its old building, which sustained damages as a result of the war.

On the mechanism of submitting challenges, the CEC stated that for individuals who would like to challenge the listing of a candidate or an electoral list must submit said challenge to the CEC using the template form dedicated to that purpose during the challenges period, March 7-9, 2026, clarifying reasons and attaching supporting evidence and documents. After submission of challenges, candidates and electoral lists whose names have been challenged are notified within 48 hours, and have the right to respond within three days of being notified. The CEC examines challenges and responses during three days. The CEC’s decision shall be appealable before the Elections Court during an additional period of three days, after which the Court issues its final ruling within five days, at most, from appeals submission.

In conclusion of its press release, the CEC announced that, following the review of electoral lists running in municipalities and individual candidates in village councils, and after verifying that all legal requirements had been met, the total number of electoral lists reached 365, while the number of candidates stood at 2,731.
