Al-Bireh – the Central Elections Commission (CEC), announced today, Wednesday, finishing the revision of all challenges and appeals against the preliminary voters’ registry during the exhibition and challenges stage.
The CEC noted receiving a total of 194 applications, during the exhibition and challenges stage, including challenging the listing of others, data correction, data updates for individuals with foreign passports. All applications were processed according to the legal and administrative procedures in place, in a way that guarantees accuracy, fairness and justice.
The CEC indicated accepting 131 applications, meanwhile rejecting 63 other applications after finalizing the verification of documents and relevant details, with only one appeal submitted to the Election Cases Court.
These inputs confirm the integrity and accuracy of CEC’s work and level of professionalism, as well as keenness to enable citizens to exercise their right to submit challenges and appeals within the frame of given legal guarantees.
Moreover, the CEC added that with the official ruling of the Court concerning the only submitted appeal, the exhibition and challenges stage. With that, the final voters’ registry is verified and ready to be used for nomination and polling stages.
The CEC mentioned current preparations focused on moving to the next stage of the electoral process, which comprises of receiving nomination applications, during the period extending from the morning of February 23, until the afternoon of March, 1, in accordance with the announced legal periods and timeline.
