The CEC Integrates Persons with Disabilities in the Electoral Awareness Campaigns

Wednesday, February 11, 2026

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) asserted that persons with disabilities are a core part of the electoral process. Enabling them to practice their democratic rights constitute a priority under its efforts to guarantee inclusive and honest elections.

The CEC shared that tailoring its efforts to target persons with disabilities reflects its adherence, in practice, to the principle of equal opportunities and enhancing democratic participation of all without any discrimination or exclusion of any of the segments of the society.

The CEC added that since the early preparations for the 2026 Local Elections, it was keen on awareness campaigns and published content being inclusive of all segments of the society wherever they are, while giving special attention to persons with disabilities. It further elaborated that such attention includes providing diverse content and means of communication to guarantee the conveying of electoral messages to all citizens effectively.

Moreover, the CEC shared that the awareness campaign on the new local elections law included the development of simplified materials, and adapted digital content, videos with sign interpretation, in addition to providing information printed in Braille. Such measures aim to remove any obstacles hindering the understanding of the electoral process, enabling every citizen to take informed electoral decisions, based on accurate and complete information.

The CEC indicated that such efforts are part of a strategic vision to enhance the culture of inclusion and transparency in elections, while emphasizing that each vote has a great value, which strengthens citizens’ adherence to their electoral rights, in a manner that guarantees free and honest elections reflecting the will of the Palestinian society and all of its components.

The CEC is working to conduct the local elections schedule for April 25, 2026 in accordance with the timeline dictated by the law and the Cabinet’s decision. The CEC has concluded the registration stage, launched the exhibition and challenges stage, which will be concluded tomorrow, Monday, meanwhile the process of receiving nomination requests and applications will commence on the twenty third of current February.
