The CEC Meets with the Palestinian Civil Police to Discuss Preparations for the 2026 Local Elections

The Chairman of the Central Elections Commission (CEC), Dr. Rami Hamdallah, received today, Monday, the General Director of the Palestinian Police, Major General Allam Al-Saqqa, at the CEC headquarters in Al-Bireh, in the frame of the ongoing preparations for conducting the fifth local elections in Palestine.

The meeting discussed coordination and cooperation between both institutions, in light of issuing the call for commencing local elections scheduled for April 25, 2026, in a way that guarantees a safe and enabling environment for conducting the electoral process and its stages.

Dr. Hamdallah emphasized the importance of partnership and complementarity between the CEC in its capacity as the body mandated with organizing and managing electoral process in Palestine, and the police institution, responsible for maintaining security and securing the electoral process. This includes the CEC’s HQ, the electoral district offices, and polling and tabulation centers, as well as CEC’s employees, in a manner that guarantees integrity of elections and safety of both, citizens and CEC’s employees.

On the other hand, Major General Allam Al-Saqqa affirmed the Palestinian Police’s readiness to fully cooperate with the CEC, dedicating all capacities necessary for the success of the electoral process, in a way that reflects the modern and democratic image of the Palestinian society.
