H.E. Dr. Rami Hamdallah, Chairman of the of the Central Elections Commission (CEC), received today, Monday, the Representative of Canada to Palestine, H.E. Graham Dattels, at the CEC's H.Q. in Al-Bireh, in the presence of the CEO, Mr. Ashraf Al-Shuaibi and the Director of the PR Department, Mr. Fareed Ta'mallah.
H.E. Dr. Hamdallah welcomed the Canadian delegation comprised of the Head of Political Section, Jean Francois Labonte, the Senior Political Officer, Salome Labrecque, and Development Officer, Razan Haddad.
During the meeting, CEC's Chairman made note of the recently issued Decree Law concerning the Local Authority Elections, which enshrined the organization of local elections within six months, pointing out the CEC's endeavor and preparations for conduction elections as soon as the call for it is issued. Moreover, H.E. affirmed the significant role of international partners, including Canada, in supporting and funding the CEC's plans and awareness efforts to guarantee organizing and conducting the electoral process with integrity and transparency.
Furthermore, H.E. Dr. Hamdallah emphasized the CEC's keenness for cooperation and partnership with States and international organizations who support the endeavors to consolidate democratic life and conduct elections in Palestine, especially in light of the complex environment, politically and financially.
