The Central Elections Commission (CEC) in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education conducted a centralized training targeting the CEC and Ministry’s staff throughout the districts of the West Bank, who will be supervising the implementation of the “Student-Activities Committees” project.
The training, held over the course of two days at the CEC’s HQ in Al-Bireh and attended by thirty participants, aims to synthesize specialized teams from the Ministry to oversee conducting elections of those student-activity committees in 40 schools serving approximately 10 thousand students (females and males) in the West Bank.
Later, these teams will be training 80 members of the Ministry’s staff in the different districts on how to conduct elections within the targeted schools during the first semester of the upcoming academic year. The training will focus on the details of activities implemented inside the school, its mechanism of implementation, especially the electoral process, in a way that realizes the overarching objective of the project to support democracy and elections among the participating school students.
It is worth mentioning that the “Student-Activity Committees” project, funded by the UNDP, is being implemented for the second year in a row, through the partnership between the CEC and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Moreover, the project is an extension of the numerous awareness raising efforts implemented by the CEC with the aim of increasing electoral knowledge and enhancing democracy, which is part of the Ministry’s vision to create well educated, informed and positive generations who are interactive and collaborative with the society.
