Electoral Awareness Center launched.. 70 children experience voting through VR

Sunday, July 20, 2025

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) through its “Electoral Awareness Center – EAC” at its HQ in Al-Bireh received approximately 70 children (males and females) by collaborating with Defense the Children International. This visit was the first to the recently established EAC, after being equipped with the necessary equipment and devices allowing participants to experience voting through the use of virtual reality in addition to other sections.

During the visit, which took place over three groups, the children were introduced to the CEC, its tasks and mission, stages of the electoral process, and awareness projects implemented by the CEC, which specifically target children and the youth. Moreover, the children visited the CEC’s data center, learning its working mechanism and how it utilizes AI technologies.

The children experienced voting through the use of virtual reality (VR), and expressed their satisfaction with the experience that combined joy and benefit. The children also participated in a in interactive online quiz, allowing them the opportunity to assess the knowledge they acquired throughout the entire project, and they received giveaway gifts by the end of the visit.

It is worth mentioning that the visit is organized under the project “Enhancing children’s participation in democratic awareness – children leading change”, implemented by Defense the Children International in collaboration with the CEC and funded by the EU, as part of the partnership projects with CSOs

It is worth noting that the EAC is one of the CEC’s projects implemented through funding from the EU, designed to provide the CEC’s visitors with complete information on the CEC and electoral events in Palestine before and after the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) through a series of documentaries produced by the CEC. Furthermore, the EAC utilizes virtual reality in order to experience voting interactively and mimicking elections in Palestine. The EAC is now open to visitors.
